The Competitors

Orena Champions Series will see 8 of South Africa's best gaming teams compete live in the grandiose Nu Metro Arena at Emperors Palace. The eight pre-invited teams will battle their way through a 14-week qualification period to eventually make their way to the Grand Final event in Johannesburg, South Africa.


The Tournament

The teams will feature across two titles, CS:GO and DOTA2, with a total prize pot of R1 700 000 ($130 000) in prize money.

Along with the official crown as OCS Champions, the winning teams in CS:GO and DOTA2 grab R300 000 in prize money.

The Group Stage will feature off-stage and on-stage matches running on September 21-22nd. The four teams qualifying for the playoffs will battle it out in the Nu Metro Arena taking place on September 23-24th.

The teams will face-off in a Single Elimination bracket and all matches will be played on the main stage in front of 500 fans!

What Is the 'Orena Champions Series (OCS)'?

The OCS, established by Orena in 2016, with the inaugural event hosted online in South Africa for the Overwatch Inaugural Season is an event series that serves as the ultimate experience for esports competitors and fans from around the country.

The event offers various experiences, ranging from live performances, to exclusive meetings with the attending pro teams, a rad fan zone with endless refreshments powered by Red Bull, as well as an official expo area which will include the Orena store where you can purchase merchandise relating to your favourite team, as well as other esports and gaming related goodies.

The Orena Champions Series is a yearly esports championship that will run throughout the year and feature multiple game titles, depending on market popularity and playability. This year, the OCS will run from the 5th of June starting with the Online Leg followed by the Championships running from 21-24 September.

Emperor's Palace

This year, we have partnered with the perfect location for the Orena Champions Series, one worthy of Caesar himself!

The OCS Finals will take place in the Nu Metro Arena at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa.


Why Emperor's Palace?

The hotel and casino will be the venue for the OCS Finals 2017. It is one of the largest single hotel complexes in South Africa, as well as one of the largest gaming floors on the African continent providing premium venue space for this year's event.

Accommodation, catering and all the entertainment one could ask for in one glorious venue.

The official stage will be housed inside a 500-seater cinema complex powered by Nu Metro!


A Special Viewer Experience

The Nu Metro Arena is a massive 500-seater cinema and will play host to the stage matches for the entirety of the OCS Finals. The auditorium is fitted with a massive screen, professional grade acoustics and some insanely comfy seating to boot!

South African Esports

South African esports has a short but vivid history with a quick rise in prominence over the last 5 to 8 years. The last two years has seen Orena send local talent overseas to compete on international shores, this year we see over R6 million being offered in major events countrywide.

South African esports is entering a new era in 2017 and we are thrilled to be a part of the movement as we bring the Orena Champions Series to Johannesburg, South Africa later this year!
